On the Terrace: Moving In

Welcome to On the Terrace, a behind the scenes after-show for Splendid Chaps Productions‘ time travel comedy, Night Terrace! Join host Vaya Pashos of the Neighbuzz podcast as she chats with the cast and crew.

In this introductory episode, co-producers John Richards (head writer) and Ben McKenzie (Eddie Jones) talk about the origins of the series, including where the idea for the show came from, how and why they cast lead actor Jackie Woodburne (Neighbours’ Susan Kennedy), and how they started working together and formed the Splendid Chaps team.

This episode of On the Terrace was recorded at Stove Monkey cafe at 191 Clarendon Street in South Melbourne. You can listen to series one of Night Terrace on BBC Radio 4 Extra from Sunday, April 21 2019. It’s also available via nightterrace.com or in the Splendid Chaps Bandcamp store.

Show Notes

  • The other Splendid Chaps Productions podcasts are Splendid Chaps, the Terry Pratchett book club Pratchat, and Star Trek: Discovery recap discussion re:Discovery.
  • The clips from Splendid Chaps are from the episodes Seven/Religion part one and the Christmas Special.
  • The number one Neighbours fan Bible, The Perfect Blend, chronicles the life and death of Audrey the dog.
  • You can get a recap of Susan’s big wedding and funeral week in episode 110 of Neighbuzz.
  • The rumour that Jackie Woodburne had full sleeve tattoos was inspired by Susan’s love for long-sleeved outfits, and was so pervasive at its height that Heat magazine made this video (and Jackie provided a statutory declaration) to prove it wasn’t true.
